Case Study: E Fundamentals achieves cost-effective scaling and rapid global expansion with Google Cloud Platform

A Google Cloud Platform Case Study

Preview of the E Fundamentals Case Study

E Fundamentals outpacing e-commerce with Google Cloud Platform

E Fundamentals is a UK startup (founded 2014, 20 employees) that provides manufacturers with an easy-to-use dashboard of online retail product performance by collecting and analysing data from 20+ major retailers (over 1 million records a week). Facing rapidly growing and changing e-commerce data (volumes doubling or tripling annually), the company needed a flexible, cost-effective infrastructure that let it experiment, scale quickly and stay ahead of a fast-evolving retail environment.

E Fundamentals built its systems on Google Cloud Platform—using Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, ML services and monitoring tools—to move from a single prototype VM to autoscaled fleets and a 1 PB low‑cost archive. The result is a resilient, nimble platform that cuts infrastructure waste, enables rapid scaling (0 to 100+ machines daily with GKE), protects against hardware failure, and gives the team a blueprint to expand globally while exploring advanced analytics and machine learning.
