DSI Solutions, based in Arlington, Texas, supplies the Platinum Software Suite for suppliers to the commercial vehicle industry across North America. Many customers ran the software on aging, self-hosted hardware in harsh environments, which caused hardware failures, downtime, unclear backups and disaster recovery, and performance degradation as businesses grew—issues that shifted DSI’s support and development focus away from product improvement.

DSI moved customers to Google Cloud Platform, using custom Compute Engine types, preemptible VMs, Cloud Storage, App Engine, BigQuery and G Suite while taking on backups with nearline/coldline archival and redundant storage. The migration (about 50% of customers to date) delivered immediate, consistent performance, near-infinite scalability, zero data loss to date, faster deployments and issue resolution, and freed DSI’s technical team to focus on product development and faster time-to-market.
