Case Study: Acciona Mobility achieves scalable, real-time scooter sharing with Looker

Driving the world toward low-carbon transport solutions with Google Cloud

Acciona Mobility, the electric scooter sharing service from Spanish multinational Acciona, needed a reliable and scalable IT foundation to launch a new sustainable transport platform without knowing in advance how fast demand would grow. Working with Looker’s vendor ecosystem context in mind, the company used Google Cloud services including BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud SQL, Google Maps Platform, and Cloud Armor to support real-time scooter data, app functionality, and security.

The solution helped Acciona Mobility ingest and process data from 10,000 scooters every 15 seconds, keep the service always available, and launch in Madrid within two months. The rollout expanded to multiple cities including Lisbon, Milan, and Rome, reached more than 3.5 million rides, and reduced CO2 emissions by over 1,000 tons, while improving user experience with faster searches and reliable availability.
