doc.ai A mobile AI app blazes trails in medical research

Doc.ai is an AI platform for healthcare and life sciences that uses real-world health data to generate personal insights and predictive models. The company needed a scalable, secure way to run ML workloads, support growing mobile-app usage, and speed up research trials while protecting sensitive medical data. Doc.ai chose Google Cloud Platform, including Google Kubernetes Engine and Compute Engine, to host its AI services and training environment.

With Google Cloud Platform, doc.ai deployed its backend on GKE, used Compute Engine GPUs to tune models, and built cloud-hosted AI training and research tools. The results included faster development, stronger scalability, and improved research throughput: doc.ai said a product that took a week on AWS was reimplemented on Google Cloud in two days, and experiments that took two weeks on its own infrastructure now take a day on Google Cloud. In less than a year, more than 35,000 active consumers used the app, showing increased engagement and retention.
