Discount Bank Banking on Google Cloud scalability for an app that makes it easy to pay

Discount Bank, one of Israel’s biggest banks, wanted to grow its PayBox digital wallet while meeting strict Israeli banking regulations and preserving the agility of the startup it acquired. The bank used Google Cloud Platform, along with services like Google Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, Compute Engine, and Key Management Service, to support secure cloud hosting and scalable operations.

Google Cloud Platform helped Discount Bank strengthen security with two-step authentication, SSL, and encryption, while enabling automated scaling and reliable monitoring. As a result, PayBox was approved by central banking authorities in Israel, could handle traffic spikes of up to 200%, and expanded from 120,000 users to more than 1.5 million.
