A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Digital District, an award‑winning post‑production studio with teams in France, Belgium and Canada, was running into capacity limits as multiple high‑quality rendering projects competed for its on‑premises servers. The company needed a flexible, scalable way to handle massive, deadline‑driven compute loads without disrupting artists or investing in permanent hardware.
Partnering with Image In Network and Google Cloud, Digital District bridged its render farm to Preemptible VMs over Google Cloud VPN and adopted Intel Skylake instances for higher performance. The cloud spillover is transparent to artists, deploys in minutes, cuts compute costs (Preemptible VMs are about 80% cheaper), boosts rendering speed so fewer nodes are needed, and enables a fully virtual, globally shared studio infrastructure.
