REWE Digital needed a scalable way to support national online grocery delivery while replacing a monolithic logistics platform that was too rigid for fast-moving ecommerce. The company turned to Looker on Google Cloud, using cloud-managed services to help break the fulfilment platform into smaller domains and enable more autonomous development teams.

Looker’s solution helped REWE Digital modernize its architecture with domain-driven design, microservices, and managed tools such as GKE, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Bigtable, and Dataproc. The result was faster development, more independent teams, and a platform that could scale toward more than 48 teams, with Google Cloud latency performing competitively even across hybrid and on-premises environments.
