CUF, Portugal’s largest private healthcare provider, needed a more secure, flexible way to protect sensitive patient data and support a large workforce after a ransomware attack exposed the limits of its on-premises setup. The company chose Google Cloud Platform, including Google Workspace, Google Chrome OS, and Chromebooks, to improve security, collaboration, and compliance across hospitals and clinics.

Google Cloud Platform helped CUF migrate its workforce to the cloud in five months, launch secure telemedicine in two weeks, and manage more than 120,000 video appointments after implementation. The new setup also cut IT workforce costs to one-sixth of previous levels, reduced out-of-hours support calls, and made day-to-day operations more efficient and energy-conscious.
