Costa Coffee Helping consumers find their closest cup

Costa Coffee, the UK’s largest coffee chain with 4,000+ stores across 31 countries, needed a better way to help customers find the nearest store, check opening hours, and access services like click-and-collect and delivery, especially as COVID-19 made accurate local information and contactless ordering more important. To support this, Costa Coffee worked with Google Cloud Platform and used Google Maps Platform in its website and mobile app.

Google Cloud Platform helped Costa Coffee implement location intelligence features including Geocoding API, Place Autocomplete, and Places API through its partner Snowdrop Solutions. The result was more accurate store finding, fewer ordering mistakes, faster and safer ordering and collection, and a smoother customer experience; Costa Coffee also reported that its Store Locator became its most visited web page during lockdown, helping boost sales and keep customers informed about open locations.
