A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Municipalidad de Córdoba, the city government of Argentina’s second-largest city, needed a better way to manage waste collection, improve traceability, and support civic engagement after moving to the cloud for the first time. Using Google Cloud Platform tools such as Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Compute Engine, and Google Maps APIs, the city set out to modernize its Environmental Management platform and replace paper-based, manual processes.
Google Cloud Platform helped Municipalidad de Córdoba build a scalable, reliable system to track waste trucks and incidents in real time, with high availability and predictable costs. The results included reducing truck wait times at the Piedras Blancas facility from 5 minutes to 1.5 minutes, monitoring 140–160 trucks daily, managing 81 million georeferences in six months, and achieving 99.9% uptime since launch.
