CoinGecko, a Malaysia-based digital currency market tracking platform, needed a cost-effective way to capture, store, and archive large volumes of historical crypto data for institutional and corporate analytics. The company wanted to support deeper decision-making use cases like trend analysis, backtesting, and portfolio returns, and it chose Looker’s Google Cloud-based data environment with BigQuery to help meet that demand.

Using Looker, CoinGecko implemented a scalable data warehouse strategy centered on BigQuery to store more than 4 TB of primary data and over 12 TB including replication. The solution cut storage costs by 40% versus other services and also helped CoinGecko run blockchain validator nodes 30% cheaper through Compute Engine, improving accessibility, scalability, and long-term infrastructure planning.
