Codensa Crystallizing Its Social Commitment Through the Cloud

Codensa, Colombia’s leading electric power company, faced a fast-moving challenge after discovering a major archaeological site during an infrastructure project. The company needed to share public-interest information digitally in less than a month, but its existing systems lacked the infrastructure and capacity to launch a virtual museum, website, and related digital experiences. To meet the deadline, Codensa turned to Google Cloud Platform, using services such as App Engine, Compute Engine, BigQuery, and Google Maps.

Google Cloud Platform enabled Codensa to deploy the project in just 15 days instead of the 6 months to a year it would likely have taken with other technologies. Security certification was approved in one week, the site attracted more than 50,000 visits, and the company avoided an estimated USD 50,000 infrastructure investment. Google Cloud Platform also gave Codensa geolocated 360° infrastructure records and room to run pilot innovations, improving speed, security, and decision-making across its operations.
