Clear Labs, a Menlo Park-based food safety testing company, needed a way to process massive volumes of next-generation sequencing data quickly and reliably for its Clear Safety platform. Using Google Cloud Platform services such as Google Pipelines API and Compute Engine, the company set out to speed up pathogen testing while keeping infrastructure simple and scalable.

Google Cloud Platform helped Clear Labs build and run its bioinformatics pipeline on a secure, high-performance cloud foundation using tools including Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Storage. The results were significant: Clear Labs can deliver accurate pathogen test results in under 24 hours, process terabytes of data efficiently, scale on demand, and save an estimated 20% in infrastructure costs versus a competing cloud service.
