Case Study: Chope achieves rapid restaurant discovery and real-time analytics with Google Cloud Platform

A Google Cloud Platform Case Study

Preview of the Chope Case Study

Chope Using Google Cloud to help people discover new restaurants, cuisines, and dishes

Chope is a Southeast Asia–based dining platform (Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok, Phuket, Jakarta, Bali) used by about 1.5 million diners and 3,000 restaurant partners to book tables, earn loyalty rewards, and discover dishes and cuisines. As Chope grew, its legacy analytics processes produced duplicated and error-prone records and were too slow to deliver the timely insights needed to improve search, personalization, and business decisions.

By migrating key workloads to Google Cloud—using BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Composer, Data Studio and Google Maps/Translation APIs—Chope built a robust data pipeline and ML-enabled search capabilities without disrupting services. The new stack handles roughly 775,000 records per day, enabled a new search feature to launch in one month, improved discovery and personalization, and gave a small team the speed and scalability to support 3,000 restaurants and 1.5 million users.
