A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
CCP Games, the Reykjavík‑based studio best known for EVE Online, was hindered by two decades of legacy code and a complex infrastructure that slowed development and forced engineers to spend excessive time on maintenance. The company needed to standardize and automate its workflows so developers could focus on creative work rather than troubleshooting and upkeep.
CCP migrated much of its platform to Google Cloud Platform—primarily Google Kubernetes Engine and Cloud Pub/Sub—over six to eight months, containerizing services and introducing standardized workflows. The shift automated manual tasks, saved at least one man‑hour a day in troubleshooting, allowed the team to handle growing workloads without adding staff, and freed engineers to spend more time on game development and quality improvements.
