California Design Den Driving higher profits with machine learning

California Design Den is an e‑commerce bedding brand grown out of NMK Textile Mills that sells fashion-forward linens directly to consumers. As the company expanded online (about 250 global employees and 2,500 SKUs), it struggled with manual spreadsheet-based forecasting, excess inventory, and the need to compete with much larger retailers on pricing and inventory decisions.

Partnering with Pluto7 and migrating data to Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Vision/AutoML), the company deployed the Planning In A Box ML/AI solution to automate demand forecasting, pricing, and SKU analysis. The result: more than a 50% reduction in inventory carryovers, quarter-over-quarter improvements in demand-planning accuracy, faster pricing decisions without a large data-science team, deeper SKU insights, and improved profitability and operational agility.
