Mercari US, a large marketplace company with a microservices architecture, faced data governance and analysis challenges as its data use grew more complex. Using Google Cloud Platform and Looker, Mercari needed a way to organize, standardize, and streamline data so engineers and employees could access reliable insights more easily.

Google Cloud Platform implemented Looker as Mercari US’s standard data platform, integrating it with BigQuery and Slack to simplify alerts, data sharing, approvals, and self-service dashboard creation. The result was higher engineering efficiency, easier data reuse without complex ETL steps, broader employee access to analytics, and a stronger data-driven culture, with about 1,800 employees using Looker.
