Building RAG-based corporate generative AI service using Gemini 1.5 Pro

POSCO Holdings, working with Google Cloud Platform and Gemini 1.5 Pro, wanted to improve how its Applied AI Research team gathered and shared fast-changing global materials-market information. Previously, employees manually searched news and websites, then summarized and presented updates, which made it difficult to keep pace with trends and preserve knowledge efficiently.

Google Cloud Platform helped POSCO Holdings build two generative AI services: an automated “Material News Trend Reporting” model and a Knowledge Search and Q&A System based on advanced RAG and Gemini. The solution automatically collects, translates, summarizes, and emails trend reports, while also enabling natural-language search and answers from stored expert knowledge. As a result, executives and employees can track market trends in real time, and more than 100,000 curated news items and reports are now preserved as reusable knowledge assets.
