AZ Delta, one of Belgium’s largest hospitals, needed a way to unify and analyze massive volumes of fragmented electronic medical records so its physicians could extract insights faster without compromising the security of highly sensitive patient data. The hospital turned to Looker as part of its cloud-based analytics approach, alongside Google Cloud technologies, to support its innovation efforts and make clinical data more usable at scale.

Looker helped AZ Delta’s broader analytics platform deliver faster, more accessible insights by enabling doctors and engineers to query and work with data much more quickly than before. The solution contributed to a major performance improvement, cutting query run time from 15 minutes to 15 seconds, while supporting the secure cleaning and analysis of data for 50,000 patients and about half a million data points.
