Brightfield Helping to balance the grid for a greener energy future

Brightfield, part of E.ON, needed a way to turn transformers into a future-proof real-time data source for grid operators, replacing slow, error-prone historical data analysis with cleaner inputs for energy demand forecasting. Working with Google Cloud Platform, Brightfield used cloud infrastructure to manage massive volumes of transformer data securely and cost-effectively.

Google Cloud Platform implemented a scalable cloud and firmware architecture using Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Bigtable, and Terraform. The result was a 90% latency improvement, a 95.6% cost reduction, and the ability to set up a production cloud for customers in just two hours, helping Brightfield digitize grid operations faster and expand its solution.
