A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Blossom.io, a San Francisco–based startup that provides an agile project-management tool for building web and mobile apps and serves hundreds of customers (including Netflix, Twitter, Adobe and Facebook), needed to deliver scalable, consistent RESTful APIs and native client libraries while avoiding the time and cost of managing hosting, scaling and operations. The team also needed to iterate quickly and support web, Android and iOS clients without diverting resources from product development.
By using Google App Engine together with Google Cloud Endpoints, Blossom.io could generate APIs and native client libraries from annotated server code and leverage built-in services like OAuth, DoS protection, logging and APIs Explorer. The solution sped development, simplified API testing and deployment, freed staff to focus on the product rather than infrastructure, produced an API on par with leading services, and enabled migration of legacy endpoints plus rollout of third‑party and native mobile clients.
