A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Blibli.com is an Indonesian B2C ecommerce site founded in 2010 that had grown rapidly but was constrained by an on‑premises data platform. The legacy infrastructure couldn’t scale cost‑effectively, required IT to limit access to prevent CPU‑intensive queries from degrading performance, and took four hours or more to deliver ready‑to‑use data to analysts—leaving little time for innovation such as machine learning.
Blibli migrated its data platform to Google Cloud Platform, using BigQuery for analytics with a streaming pipeline via Cloud Pub/Sub and Cloud Dataflow, plus Compute Engine and Cloud Dataproc for supporting services. The move democratized data access, freed IT from infrastructure management, and cut data‑delivery time from four hours to about 20 minutes (almost a 92% reduction), while positioning the company to use ML for personalization, inventory planning, and customer segmentation.
