A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Bending Soons is a Milan-based app developer behind 20+ popular apps with 120 million downloads that relies on data science to choose which products to build and how to optimize user experience and monetization. The company needed to analyze millions of daily user events and external market signals quickly to improve targeting, app-store performance, and subscription/in‑app purchase revenue—but wanted a solution that wouldn’t demand a large ops team or heavy upfront infrastructure investment.
Bending Spoons implemented BigQuery on Google Cloud (with Compute/App Engine and Kubernetes for some workloads) and built internal tools like Pico and Crystal to ingest hundreds of millions of data points and run hundreds of thousands of daily queries. This enabled fast, segment-level analysis and predictive models, cut reporting from hours to minutes, revealed dramatic ad-creative differences (up to 100x in download value), and supported rapid, low‑cost scaling—helping the company boost downloads, optimize monetization, and reach top-ten global publisher status (excluding games).
