Bazaarvoice, founded in 2005, provides software that helps brands and retailers collect, distribute, and display authentic consumer-generated product content via APIs. Rapid growth drove huge API volumes and rising costs with their previous provider (costs had jumped sharply in 2016–2017), so the company needed a more scalable, cost-effective API platform and a fast migration before its contract renewal.
In April 2017 Bazaarvoice migrated to Apigee—importing 66,000 API keys with hands-on Apigee support—and immediately gained lower costs and greater control. The company now handles about 15 billion API calls per month, cut API spend by 34%, develops features in days instead of months, fixes issues without outages, doubled customer capacity for the 2017 holidays, launched a personalization product in 2018, and is working with Apigee to monetize its API business.
