Bank BRI, one of Indonesia’s largest banks, wanted to expand financial inclusion for unbanked customers while modernizing its legacy banking operations. Using Google Cloud Platform’s Apigee Cloud API Management Platform, the bank aimed to secure, manage, and monetize APIs more effectively and speed up partner onboarding across its massive branch and agent network.

Google Cloud Platform implemented Apigee, along with the developer portal and monetization features, to centralize API lifecycle management, support digital banking, and enable self-service partner access. The results were significant: partner onboarding dropped from 6 months to under 1 hour, loan approval and disbursement were reduced from 2 weeks to 2 minutes with the Pinang app, and Bank BRI generated $50M in revenue through Apigee monetization while strengthening security and trust.
