Balgrist Campus Integrative research into low-back pain with the support of Google Cloud

Balgrist Campus, Switzerland, an internationally renowned research institute for musculoskeletal issues, needed a more agile way to support its growing Integrative Spinal Research team. Its previous cloud environment was poorly integrated with the network, creating challenges around security, scalability, infrastructure management, and the extra computing power required to analyze MRI and patient data.

Google Cloud Platform helped Balgrist Campus build a hybrid on-premises and cloud architecture using services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, and HTCondor. The new setup boosted security, removed the need for a VPN, improved collaboration, and gave the team scalable virtual machines and more research compute; it also set the foundation for future cloud-first growth and lower long-term infrastructure costs.
