Auchan France Creating 'phygital' retail experiences with next-gen data technology

Auchan France, the multi-format “phygital” retailer with more than 600 locations, needed a better way to manage a massive data environment spanning 500 applications and about five million data flows each day. Its legacy on-prem infrastructure struggled with speed, monitoring, scalability, and the growing demand for data-driven insights, so the company turned to Google Cloud Platform and Elastic Observability to modernize its data operations.

Google Cloud Platform helped Auchan France move to Elastic Cloud on Google Cloud, using services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Google Kubernetes Engine, and Cloud Functions to improve data ingestion, processing, and visualization. The result was lower data storage, processing, and analytics costs, less infrastructure maintenance, and faster data processing speeds within the first three months of migration, giving Auchan France more time to focus on strategic business use cases and omnichannel customer experiences.
