A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Claritics, a 15-person social analytics firm in Mountain View, helps game and app developers, advertisers and media companies gain real-time player and user insights to optimize design, marketing and monetization. The company’s home-grown Hadoop clusters were costly and time-consuming to manage—data ingestion was cumbersome, complex queries could take over 30 minutes, and scaling required continual fine-tuning and specialized staff—so Claritics needed a simpler, more scalable and cost-effective way to process vast amounts of data and accelerate product development.
Claritics moved to Google BigQuery, using its SQL-like, auto-scaling analytics service to ingest millions of events and analyze terabytes of data daily. The change cut complex query times from about 30 minutes to roughly 20 seconds, reduced infrastructure maintenance time by up to 40%, enabled nearly four times faster time-to-market for new analytics apps, and let the team react to client needs and run rapid experiments much more quickly and cost-effectively.
