A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Alstom, a global leader in rail transport solutions, faced complex legacy hardware, software and network challenges across multinational engineering projects that delayed provisioning, increased IT costs and complicated collaboration. Its Bologna site partnered with Google Cloud Platform reseller Injenia to pilot moving engineering workloads to the cloud to simplify deployments and meet strict safety, redundancy and data-privacy requirements.
Using GCP (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage and Cloud CDN) Injenia replaced legacy infrastructure with virtualized, template-based environments that can be spun up in minutes—100 VMs in one morning—while aligning instances with security zones. The migration cut IT maintenance costs to about 10% of the original budget, reduced environment provisioning from months to minutes, and improved global team cooperation as the pilot rolled out to other Alstom sites.
