A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Alpega Group, a European leader in transportation management SaaS best known for its Transwide TMS, needed to future-proof its customer-facing analytics and enable near real-time KPIs. Its legacy data warehouse was too slow (some queries took over a minute), costly to remodel, and the infrastructure team was already stretched, so the company evaluated cloud platforms to speed time to market.
Alpega built a new data platform on Google Cloud Platform using BigQuery for analytics and Tableau on Compute Engine, with Pub/Sub and Kubernetes for real-time processing and orchestration, implemented with partners Datatonic and EPAM in under six months. The result: query times cut by up to 90%—one year of detailed data now visualizes in under 10 seconds—reduced maintenance through a NoOps model, and freed engineering capacity to develop new real-time services and roll the solution out across other products.
