Alma Making installment payments work for customers and retailers with Google Cloud

Alma is a France-based fintech startup founded in 2017 that offers installment payments, helping retailers get paid instantly while customers pay over time. To launch and scale its buy-now-pay-later platform, Alma needed a fast, easy-to-manage cloud foundation that could support a small team, complex payment workflows, and strict financial compliance. It chose Google Cloud Platform, using Google Cloud along with services like Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, and Cloud Logging.

Google Cloud Platform helped Alma build and operate its platform quickly, with managed infrastructure that reduced the burden of maintenance and improved debugging, collaboration, and security. The results were strong: Alma scaled to more than 50 employees, acquired several thousand retail clients, raised €49 million in equity, and now processes more than €300 million in payments each year. Google Cloud Platform also simplified compliance and enabled smooth remote collaboration through Google Workspace.
