A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Boo-box, a leading Brazilian ad network that places billions of ads across some 350,000 blogs and websites each month, needed a faster, more scalable way to analyze hundreds of millions of daily records (impressions, clicks, views) to sharpen ad targeting. Attempts to use MySQL triggers were tedious and inflexible, while Hadoop demanded continuous infrastructure investment and specialized staff, so the team sought a low‑maintenance analytics solution that could scale with growth.
Boo-box adopted Google BigQuery (with Google Cloud Storage), using familiar SQL‑like queries to analyze billions of rows in seconds. The move eliminated the need for extra hardware and specialized training—saving about $200,000 a year—while delivering near‑real‑time insights that improved targeting, reporting and customer engagement and helped increase advertisers’ spend.
