Acciona Mobility Driving the world toward low-carbon transport solutions with Google Cloud

Acciona Mobility, the electric scooter-sharing service from Spanish multinational Acciona, needed a reliable, scalable IT foundation to launch and grow a new zero-carbon transport platform without knowing upfront how large demand would become. The company turned to Google Cloud Platform, using Google Cloud services to support real-time scooter availability, app functionality, and secure operations as it expanded across cities.

Google Cloud Platform implemented a serverless, managed cloud architecture with products including BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud SQL, Google Maps Platform, Cloud Armor, and Google Kubernetes Engine. The solution enabled data ingestion every 15 seconds from 10,000 scooters, helped the service launch in Madrid within two months, and later scale to cities including Lisbon, Milan, and Rome. Acciona Mobility has surpassed 3.5 million rides and reduced CO2 emissions by more than 1,000 tons, while keeping the service always available and responsive.
