A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
33Bondi is a boutique technology, product, and design consultancy based near Bondi Beach in Sydney. The firm was tasked with delivering a multinational, full-transactional web presence for a bicycle insurance client across Australia, the UK, and the US within 12 weeks while handling spiky demand (email tranches of 200,000 to an audience of about 20 million), meeting security and compliance needs, and doing so with a small team.
By building on Google Cloud Platform—using App Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Datastore, BigQuery and other GCP services—33Bondi scaled horizontally to absorb traffic spikes, encapsulated WordPress for manageability, and analysed customer data to refine offerings. The team launched the sites within the 12-week deadline with just two engineers, supported large-scale email-driven traffic, improved security posture and client confidence, and positioned the firm to replicate this model for future clients.
