Wyoming Strengthens Top-Down Communication Using Chromebox for Meetings

The State of Wyoming, led by CIO Flint Waters, needed to modernize a fragmented IT organization and speed up slow, hierarchical government communication across a vast, sparsely populated state. The agency also faced high annual costs for legacy video-conferencing ($1.5M) and wanted tools to improve collaboration between executives, agencies, schools and the public.

Wyoming moved to Google Apps and deployed 178 Chromebox for meetings licenses, replacing costly Tandberg systems and enabling cabinet-level, agency and classroom video collaboration as well as informal, impromptu huddles. The switch greatly reduced conferencing costs, cut travel time, increased productivity and transparency, and helped flatten communication—while enabling future plans like a live online help desk for citizens.
