A Google Chrome Case Study
Phase2 Technology, a distributed digital agency serving clients such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Harvard Business School, built a remote-friendly “everywhere” workforce with offices in New York, Washington, D.C., Portland and San Francisco and 25% of staff working off-site. Their distributed teams were hampered by inconsistent AV setups: meetings routinely lost about 10 minutes to configuration, multiple systems in different rooms created maintenance headaches, and lost billable time and upkeep costs added up to tens of thousands of dollars.
Phase2 installed Chromebox for meetings in eight conference rooms across four offices, giving employees a one‑button way to start Hangouts that integrates with Google Calendar and a central console to manage settings. The change eliminated setup delays and vastly reduced IT maintenance (from roughly 32 hours a month to about 1 hour), driving near-zero room upkeep costs, enabling more ad hoc collaboration, and delivering significant time and cost savings (editor’s note: roughly $5,000 a day and over 100 hours a week).
