A Google Chrome Case Study
The Better Business Bureau serving Eastern Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont, a non-profit with about 50 staff and a mix of in-office and remote workers, struggled to manage IT needs and security without a dedicated IT department. Leadership staff had been handling device setup, software updates and support themselves, which strained resources during busy periods and raised concerns about keeping information secure and accessible.
The BBB deployed 35 Chromebooks and Chromeboxes and adopted G Suite, using the Chrome management console to preload apps, restrict downloads, and rely on automatic OS updates and built-in security. The move cut IT maintenance time, eliminated email/document servers, improved remote collaboration and access, saved roughly $900 per seat versus traditional PCs, and prompted the BBB to expand the rollout—and to advise other BBB offices on adopting Google technology.
