Novartis Implements Google Analytics Premium on a Global Scale to Improve Customer Experience

Novartis, a global healthcare leader with thousands of websites and about 130 corporate communications sites, needed a consistent, scalable way to implement Google Analytics Premium so the right metrics reached the right teams. The company also required flexibility for site-specific requirements (for example, national data-privacy rules) and wanted to eliminate error-prone manual setup across hundreds of pages.

Using Python with the Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics Management APIs, Novartis automated creation of containers, tags, accounts, properties, and views, tested changes in small batches, and applied targeted customizations like IP anonymization. The approach reduced errors, saved time, produced more consistent cross-site data, freed developers and marketers for higher‑value work, and enabled multi-property dashboards and richer analysis.
