Eltsoft LLC, founded by Jason Byrne and Robert Diem, builds mobile language-learning apps (including the popular English Grammar app) used by millions across nearly 120 countries. Their challenge was to monetize free, ad-supported apps in a way that delivered language-appropriate, global ads without harming the user experience.
By integrating Google AdMob and switching from banners to rich-media interstitials, and by using Google Analytics to optimize targeting and localization, Eltsoft rapidly improved ad performance. The result was up to a 20× revenue increase, a sustained $7 CPM, and AdMob accounting for about 90% of their mobile ad revenue.
