Neurologist grows revenue 10x and scales app with AdMob

Dr. Mohan Noone built the app Indian Train Status to provide live train updates but faced the challenge of reaching a larger audience and monetizing his work. He partnered with Google AdMob, listing the app on Google Play and planning to use AdMob’s ad formats to drive revenue while keeping the app lightweight and user-friendly.

Using Google AdMob’s banner and interstitial ad formats (and later AdMob house ads for cross-promotion), Noone optimized banner placement and selectively deployed interstitials, which led to a 10X revenue increase after banner optimization and a 3X boost after adding interstitials. The app grew to over 5 million downloads, sees more than 500,000 daily uses, and reached #1 in Google Play’s Travel & Local—demonstrating measurable audience growth and monetization success with Google AdMob.
