A Goodstuff Case Study

Preview of the OVO Case Study

OVO boosts greener energy sign-ups with Goodstuff, shifting 474,616 kWh and saving £500,000

OVO, an energy provider, faced the challenge of changing consumer behavior to shift energy use away from peak times when the National Grid relies more on non-renewable sources. Their goal was to encourage people to actively choose greener moments for their energy consumption. To address this, they partnered with vendor Goodstuff on their Power Move product.

Goodstuff implemented a two-phase solution using their proprietary Greener Grid API. The campaign first used out-of-home advertising that only displayed during green energy times. They then launched the OVO Power Nap, an Amazon Alexa skill that provided users with real-time updates on renewable energy levels. The results were significant, with tens of thousands of new Power Move sign-ups shifting nearly half a million kWh of energy, saving customers over £500,000 and avoiding 42 tonnes of carbon emissions. The campaign also boosted OVO's brand awareness and won multiple awards for Goodstuff.
