TownNews Turning Media Data into Insights

TownNews, a provider of CMS and publishing platforms for U.S. local media, found many of its mid‑size and community customers were drowning in siloed data and lacked clear insight into which articles, videos, or reporters actually drove revenue. Without a unified view, editors and ad teams couldn’t connect content performance to advertising and subscription outcomes or make informed content and staffing decisions.

Working with GoodData, TownNews launched Data Insights—an embedded, automated analytics solution that pulls Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager and other sources into one dashboard inside the BLOX CMS. The tool surfaces content-to-revenue links, engagement metrics, and trend tracking so customers can act quickly; within two weeks 29 customers signed up and several immediately closed ad-revenue gaps that nearly paid for the product. Data Insights is scalable for high volumes of data and is being iterated to add real‑time and predictive capabilities.
