Volunteer Youth Hockey Organization Benefits From No-Cost Technology for Its Annual Golf Fundraiser

The Grand Rapids Youth Hockey Association, a volunteer-run organization, sought to streamline the planning of its annual golf fundraiser and implement safe, contactless processes for the event in the face of COVID-19. Their challenge was to maximize volunteer efforts and adapt their traditional tournament format. They turned to vendor GolfStatus and qualified for its Golf for Good program, which provided no-cost access to its event management technology.

GolfStatus provided a custom event website for online registration and its full management platform, which automated data entry and eliminated manual work. The solution also included live-scoring and leaderboards to reduce touchpoints and a skins game module to increase engagement. These changes from GolfStatus attracted 220 golfers, raised $13,000, and significantly improved the experience for players and sponsors while saving volunteers countless hours.
