Habitat for Humanity of Chicago's Golf Fundraiser Raises Money to Foster Home Ownership

Habitat for Humanity Chicago, a local affiliate of the global nonprofit, needed to establish a new flagship fundraiser after the pandemic cancelled their usual event. Their Associate Board President, Chris Johnson, decided to launch a golf tournament to raise money for their HomeBuyer University program but lacked any prior event planning experience. The challenge was to efficiently organize and run this new event to meet a conservative fundraising goal of $8,000.

The organization used GolfStatus's tournament management platform, provided at no cost through the Golf for Good program. The solution centralized registration, payments, and sponsor management, saving significant time and simplifying logistics. As a result, the inaugural tournament surpassed its goal, raising $13,000 from 19 teams and nine sponsorships. GolfStatus provided the tools and support that enabled the event's successful launch and established it as a key future fundraiser.
