MWH Global senior engineering consultant Willem Havermans needed a better way to visualize groundwater contamination and support remediation planning. Using Golden Software products, especially Voxler and Surfer, he moved beyond traditional 2D slice-based analysis to work with 3D data from monitoring wells and subsurface samples.

Golden Software’s Voxler and Surfer enabled Havermans to grid contamination data, generate isosurfaces and contours for multiple thresholds, and calculate affected soil volumes for clearer remediation decisions. The solution made it easier to update models as new well data arrived, track contamination changes over time, and export gridded data for use with groundwater modeling tools like MODFLOW, improving planning and progress assessment.
