Blue Elephant Energy deploys 12 MW battery park with Goldbeck Solar in 1.2 years

Blue Elephant Energy GmbH, a leading independent power producer, sought to expand its portfolio into battery storage solutions to support grid stability and capitalize on energy arbitrage opportunities. They engaged vendor Goldbeck Solar GmbH to construct a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) to meet this challenge.

Goldbeck Solar implemented the solution as the EPC contractor, building the 12 MW / 16 MWh Battery Park Merseburg. The project's key location advantage was its short distance to the grid connection point, which reduced infrastructure costs and promoted efficient operation. The results include enhanced local grid stability through frequency regulation and the ability to perform arbitrage trading. Indicative measurements suggest the project could save approximately 5,475 tons of CO₂ per year and has the capacity to shift enough energy to supply around 2,500 households for a day.
