Toromont CAT, a heavy equipment dealership serving Ontario, Manitoba, Nunavut, Newfoundland and Eastern Labrador with a 430‑vehicle maintenance service truck fleet, needed accurate real‑time telematics to improve routing of service calls, reduce customer wait and drive time, increase safety, and capture data to support decision‑making and liability claims. To meet these goals they evaluated telematics vendors and selected GoGPS to provide the fleet visibility and routing capabilities required.

GoGPS’s telematics system was rolled out by a newly hired fleet manager who coordinated dispatching across independently owned CAT dealerships so technicians could be sent from the closest location. As a result, Toromont CAT reduced fleet size by about 18%, cut fuel expenditures by 4% despite a 22% increase in utilization, improved driver behavior through data‑driven training, and has had only one serious accident since implementation while using GoGPS data to establish fault when needed.
