A GoFleet Case Study
The City of Charlottetown needed a reliable way to notify staff and residents which roads had been plowed to meet municipal plowing standards and reduce winter driving hazards. Traditional magnetic and hydraulic sensors proved unreliable in harsh winter conditions, so the City selected GoFleet and complementary plow position hardware (the eLONs plow position monitoring system) to provide durable up/down plow detection and public-facing road status.
GoFleet implemented its Public Map Share add-in integrated with the City’s eLONs system and GO7/GO9 GPS devices, routing plow up/down events into the fleet database and publishing a public map that shows roads as green (plowed 0–4 hrs), yellow (4–8 hrs) or red (8+ hrs). The solution delivered more accurate, low‑maintenance plow tracking, a shareable map on the City website for residents, and a cost‑effective, multi‑winter system that improved compliance with plowing standards and helped preserve public safety.
