Goalbook Significantly Improves Instructional Planning, Research Shows

San Francisco State University (SFSU), working with Goalbook Toolkit from Goalbook, wanted to help special education teachers write more effective, standards-aligned IEP goals. Their challenge was ensuring goals were measurable, individualized, and rigorous enough to support Common Core expectations while still meeting each student’s unique needs.

Using Goalbook’s online platform, SFSU student teachers wrote more complete learning goals that aligned to standards and differentiated instruction more effectively. In the study, goals written with Goalbook scored an average of 17.5 out of 20 compared with 5.0 without it, meaning they included about two and a half times more information for planning and measuring student success.
