Case Study: Liège achieves 14% citizen engagement and 95,000 votes with Go Vocal

A Go Vocal Case Study

Preview of the Liège Case Study

Liège reached 14% of its population with CitizenLab

Liège, one of the largest and most dynamic cities in Wallonia (about 200,000 residents), needed a way to crowdsource its City Plan and get broad public input on policy priorities. To do this the city partnered with Go Vocal and deployed Go Vocal’s online citizen engagement platform to solicit ideas, comments and votes from residents.

Go Vocal combined targeted online/offline outreach, communications advice, moderation tools and platform redesign (grouping submissions into eight topic areas and providing data exports) to support Liège’s process. The campaign reached 14% of Liège’s population, generated over 1,000 ideas and more than 3,000 comments, elicited about 95,000 votes, and required formal moderation in fewer than 0.5% of cases — results Go Vocal then helped synthesize for the city’s final City Plan.
